HEALTHY BUILDINGS 2003 - Singapore, 7-11 december 2003
The seventh Healthy Buildings conference will be held at the National University of Singapore. Until now, the program of every conference has focused on practical solutions based on scientific data. Each conference has also produced state-of-the-art reports on concurrent topics. The Healthy Buildings 2003 Conference will be organized according to these principles, with particular emphasis on energy-efficient healthy buildings in all climatic conditions.
Conference aims and scope- To increase the awareness of healthy indoor environment and energy-efficient building globally, including a special theme for developing countries; - To create a multi-disciplinary forum on the development and advances made in the field of indoor air quality and climate to achieve healthy, comfortable and productive environments; - To allow interactions among scientists, policy makers, medical, legal and building professionals on the application of state-of-the-art research to practical problems encountered in the design, construction, operation and retrofitting of buildings; - The scope of the Conference covers all building types in all climatic conditions.
Note : the detailed programme is not available yet, but the call for abstracts focused on the following themes : - Science of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) parameters; - Materials, Systems and Technologies for Healthy Buildings; - IAQ and human response; - Practice and implementation issues in creating Healthy Buildings; - Issues of Healthy Buildings and Energy Efficiency in the developing countries.
Abstracts are welcome until August 20th, 2003.

HQE2R 2nd International Conference : Methods and Tools for the Development of Sustainable Neighbourhoods, 6-7 march 2003, Copenhagen
The objective of the HQE2R project is to develop a new methodology and tools to promote sustainable development and quality of life at the crucial and challenging level of urban neighbourhoods. The project uses case studies as model neighbourhoods in which to test the methodology.
The elements taken into account in the development of this methodology and its tools are : - Improvement in the quality of the built environment, - Improvement of the quality of life, - Controlling costs and applying management methods which allow all categories of actors to share expenses, - Controlling urban sprawl and commuting.
Objectives of the Conference : - To present the first results of HQE2R on 3 selected topics, - To illustrate these topics by examples form case studies in different European Countries, - To discuss the results and their potential use, - To collect feedback from delegates and incorporate their needs in the further work of the HQE2R project.
